Reflections from AVA Brazil in São Paulo
A few months ago, Plant Futures was honored to join an inspiring community of leaders and changemakers shaping the future of food systems in Latin America. The energy in São Paulo was electric, and three moments stood out as powerful highlights:
1. Humane Education Panel – Sam joined Patricia and Bjorn to explore how food systems education can drive impactful change. The conversation sparked fresh ideas about how universities can serve as a launchpad for regional and global transformation.
2. Film Launch: Plant Futures in Mexico – The premiere of our first official film, created with Nathan Zack and supported by the Culture & Animals Foundation, opened the floor to discussions on the power of universities, coalition building, and supporting emerging plant-focused leaders across Latin America.
3. Cross-Sector Collaboration at Veg Fest Brazil – From dining hall transformations in Peru to Brazil’s innovative food entrepreneurs, the event showcased how food systems can inspire both climate resilience and economic opportunity. The gathering celebrated sustainable solutions across food, fashion, art, and more, offering a glimpse into the vibrant potential of the region.
A huge thank you to the incredible event organizers at AVA Summit and VegFest Brazil for creating such an impactful space for these important conversations and connections. Latin America’s leadership in food and agriculture is paving the way for innovative climate solutions, and Plant Futures is honored to contribute to this growing effort
